There is a static camera at the intersection of Park and Milner Road in
Rondebosch, facing towards Wynberg. It is a 60km/h zone. The camera

As you come into town from Kuilsriver the first robot inside town next to
Distell has a camera trapping speed and running red.
Actually the whole zone from entering Stellenbosch to that robot is a
hotzone. They sometimes also catch after the robot when you come closer to

Travelling towards Ladies Mile Circle on Firgrove Road.
The camera catches traffic in the 60km/h zone ON THE BRIDGE, just as one
accelerates to come up the rise.
Mr Speed Cop sits on the left side of the rise, obscured by the traffic sign

Coming back from Knysna, cops erecting a camera on
the railings of the bridge between Stilbaai and Riversdale.
The road makes a bend to the left.

Been caught twice in Brackenfell. Old Oak Road between Frans Conradie & Old Paarl
Roads. This is the road that takes you to R30 from Durbanville
They have a cop sitting on the pavement with a radar camera -

A new fixed bright yellow safety camera has been erected a couple of
meters past the existing camera on Kaaimans Bridge towards "Death
Bend". It functions when travelling from George to Wilderness.
Left Hand Lane speed limit 40km/h.
Right hand Lane speed limit 60km/h.
According to officials it trapped 300 "offenders" in the first
two hours of operation (George Herald, 2008-05-08).

A new fixed speed camera has been installed last week on Kloof Nek road in
Cape Town about a kilometer down from Kloof Nek opposite the turning to
Firdale Road. It appears to be targeting traffic going up the hill and down

The speed limit is 40km/h but I have been told by more than two people that
the camera only traps at 60km/h.

As you leave Cape Town from Gardens via Roeland Street, onto De Waal Drive
there is a often temp manned camera in the 60km/h section just before it
changes to 80km/h! I saw them three times in the last month sitting in a
Toyota Venture with the back opened up with the radar/camera trapping. The
Venture is usually parked in the side road (rd runs parallel to De Waal
drive). They are normally there from about 06:40am till about 10:00 (or when
there films run out!) Normally you are blinded by the upcoming sun and thus

Coming into the Hugenot Tunnel from the Paarl side, about 400 meters in are two big
permanent camers watching both directions. Then before you leave the tunnel
on the Worcester side, there are two more cameras watching both directions.

When you come in from Cape Town on the N7 you turn left into Bokomo Road.
You will go past Bokomo's siloes on your right hand side when the road
makes a turn downwards to your right slow down! There is a camera on your
left which shoots traffic in both directions. If you come from Klipheuwel
Road to Malmesbury, and you turn left at the first set of robots, that exact
same camera is there again, but this side on your right hand side as the
road makes a upward curve to your right. Thanks Speed Junkie.

When you turn in from the N7 at the top of the hill into Malmesbury, either
if it is from Vredenburg's side or Cape Town's side, if you go straigt
down, about 3km later there is a permanent camera on your right hand side
which shoots traffic in both directions. If you are leaving Malmesbury at the
top exit of Malmesbury in Voortrekker Road on your way to the N7, pass the 2
BP Garages and the Toyota garage, about 2km ahead there is a speed camera on
your left hand side just as the road makes a turn to your right hand side.

There is an occasional manual camera on the R44 in the dip of the road
between the Lord Charles Hotel robot and the bridge crossings over the R102
and N2. The camera points towards Stellenbosch bound traffic but can pick up
Strand bound traffic. The is usually a white van parked illegally beyond the
yellow line to mask the camera. Speed limit 60. Thanks Ron.

Broadlands robot, the fixed camera is hidden among the median undergrowth

The cop hides at the entrance road to Polkadraai Farm Stall and traps both sides
as you come down the hill - at the bottom where one usally is fastest.
From stellenbosch their is no camera sign under the 100km/h sign but from
Kuils River it is indicated. This is the worst(most lucrative) money making position

& Ou Kaapse weg. Visitors to Cape Town beware! Simon's Town municipality
must be very short of funds! AG SHAME, would they like us to pay for their
