with readings). Further up the road, as you go around Allens Nek, just before

Hyde Park |
William Nicol |
Probably for more than two weeks there has been at least one, and usually
two speed traps on the William Nicol just after the turnoff from Jan Smuts
by Hyde Park. One or more traffic police with cameras hide in the bushes on
the Hyde Park side of the road - they actually pull dead branches partially
over themselves to hide. An unmarked Kangoo type car is used on the
Craighall side of the road. It's getting ridiculous - you can watch the
traffic slow down at all the appropriate points because we know the
different hideaways. The latest is a patch of bamboo up on the bank. The
appalling driving during rush hour further down the road - mad overtaking,
jumping traffic lights etc continues unabated. Thanks to "Irritated". |

Everywhere |
When in Jhb watch out for a white older model Honda Ballade lowered with
mags, tinted windows and those light up windscreen washers. It
looks like a real rice rocket but it's actually a Metro Police vehicle!
Give aways are the radio handset hanging from the mirror by its curly cord and
the metro caps in their yellow jackets inside. I took a photo but it is too
unclear to help. Thanks Charles. |
