Warwick / Smith |
I had an attempted hijack on 21/04/2006 at approx 13h35 at the Warwick
Ave/Smith Street intersection (in front of Durban Institute City Campus)
I was stabbed in the chest. My mistake - I had the window rolled half way
down. But it was a HOT Durban day. I managed to get away and drove to a
hospital for treatment and am now stuch with medical bills of about
R12000.00. Avoid this Hot spot. Police doing nothing to protect us - the tax
payer who pay their salary. Thanks Tiru.

N3 |
TRUCK HIJACKSPOTS Along N3 from Durban to Johannesburg.
Experience taught us a valuable lesson; do not stop to pick
up hitchhikers, or at quiet places. A red VW Golf and/or
green Opel patrol the highway. Once targeted they will
drive ahead, drop off a female, who WILL attract the
driver's attention. Once in the cab, she would SMS
the arranged drop-off spot to the hijackers. There
is no way of getting out of this. Thanks Dougie.

Many roads |
Coming by Berea road to Durban city, entering West street,
passing by the taxi rank on the left, the first three robots
before Russell Street are the hot spots of hijacks when your
window is open, they pull you of the car, smack you or take
your visible belongings like cellphone etc, they would also
smash the window. Watch and be warned on some hobos on the
side of the road who appear like beggars and when you open
the window to offer something to them, they hijack you especially
when the robots take longer to change at night. Last week my
friend was stabbed trying to access the toilet at
the service stations at Mpangeni. The robbers followed her
to the toilet, stabbing her badly , demanding a cellphone,
money and car key. She bled badly and has bad scars on
her face, body and broken ligaments on her hands. So dear
friends, take caution at creepy and quiet service stations.
Not all service stations are safe, even when it comes
to asking for directions. Thanks D.S.K
